The beginning of any knitting project is your cast on, it's always so exciting to get a new project on your needles.  Did you know that different types of projects & different knitted fabrics call for different cast on techniques?  And the same is true for the end of your project - your ideal bind off will vary depending on how you want that final row to look and feel.  

This course will take you through some essential bind-off and cast-on techniques - how to choose them, how to execute them and the types of tools you need for each.

Some areas to be taught include:  Italian/Tubular Cast-On & Bind-Off, Provisional Cast-On; Kitchner Stitch,  Decorative Bind-Off's like the I-Cord Bind-Off & Stretchy Bind-Off's for Stockinette.

Supplies Needed: 

  • Knitting Needles Circular US 7 or US 8
  • Darning Needle
  • 2 locking stitch markers - can be helpful
  • Practice Worsted Weight Yarn provided by Knit House.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate

Class Size: Maximum 6 students (minimum 2 students)

Dates:  4 Fridays, May 10, 17, 24 & 31 ; 11:30-1:00

Icelandic bind-off - ideal for garter stitch
Cable Bind-off for 1x1 rib 

Week 3: Decorative Cast-ons and Bind-offs

Week 4: Cast-ons for Double-Knitting or Keeping Stitches Live; Bind-offs for Seaming Last Row with Live Cast-on
Judy's Magic Cast-on - for Double Knitting, as in a folded collar, or for toe-up socks 
Crochet provisional cast-on
Three-needle bind-off 
Kitchener Stitch 

Fee:  $30 per session and $100 for all 4 sessions; Each session is sold individually or purchase all 4 for $100
