Learn how to create a hat with short-rows and Kitchener Stitch. This hat is made using super bulky wool and is easy to finish quickly.
Beginning with a provisional cast on the hat is constructed sideways around the circumference of the head, rather than the usual construction from brim to top of the head, and is seamed invisibly up the side of the hat. It employs garter stitch for the brim, a column of twisted knit stitches, and reverse stockinette stitch for the body, for a fun and varied texture.
Skills Required: Intermediate knitter with proficiency in knitting and purling through front and back loops.
Skills Learned: Provisional cast-on with crochet chain, wrap and turn short rows, resolution of the wrapped knit and purl stitch; seaming by Kitchener Stitch on garter and reverse stockinette stitch fabric.
