Ready for Autumn!

Just got back from a fiber retreat and who did I end up sitting next to? The Blue Sky Fiber lady! Just so happens we got a lot of new-to-us Blue Sky Fiber in the store in the last 2 weeks. So it was great to hear more about this company. Blue Sky Fibers started as the pet project of owner/founder Linda Niemeyer when she bought an alpaca. Soon Linda found herself with a lot of fiber on hand. Thank goodness a nearby yarn store was willing to take it and thats how Blue Sky Fibers began!

Soon she expanded into other fibers and a chance encounter with a Peruvian lead her to source her wool for Woolstok. Woolstok is a wonderful, worsted weight yarn that is great for just about any garment. We have it stocked in 50 gr skeins which makes it perfect for color work. No need to buy 150 grams when all you need is a third that much.

I couldn’t wait to give it a try! On the same day, we received the new Amirisu book Cosmology, so I grabbed a skein of Woolstok and one of the scrumptious, Knitting for Olive mohair and made Uchujin

This is a great little hat, quick to knit up and can be worn several different ways. Turn up the brim and make it into a beanie.
Another new arrival is Blue Sky Fiber’s Organic Cotton. If you have always liked our organic Appalachian Baby yarn but thought it was to thin to work with, you will love this worsted weight cotton.
This Pine Island Pullover has caught my eye. It is easy to make, a perfect first sweater for the uninitiated.
These 2 yarns are also great for our Knit House Hat and ribbed hat, or a new color work autumn hat, the Acorn Street Cap.
Don’t know what to make? Come into the store and we will be happy to help you choose the perfect project for you!
