Away we go!

I dont know about you, but one of the things I missed the most during covid are knitting retreats! Well, I am happy to say they are back!!

For me, it started with Stitches West in Sacramento at the beginning of March. It was a small affair when compared to previous meetings, but it was a start! It gave me hope that things were beginning to get back to where we were before the pandemic.

Meeting famous knitter Gigi!

This got me searching for what else is out there! I have a long bucket list of places and retreats I would like to go to when possible.

Just a few days ago, i signed up for the 4-day Jimmy Beans Retreat in Reno Nevada. This one is taking place at the Peppermill Resort. Not only will it be full of knitting and crochet classes, but I can fit in some pool time, a spa treatment and a dinner cruise on Lake Tahoe! The dates are September 21-25.

Others on my radar: Knit City Montreal, April 2-3, Interweave Yarn Festival in Colorado, April 20-24, and Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. (This is a good one!)

North light fibers has wonderful retreats on Block Island in Rhode Island and of course there is the quintessential Shetland Wool Week off the coast of Scotland!

Block Island, RI

 Shetland Island

There are many, many more retreats out there. For a pretty good list of most of them go to the Knitter’s Review Events page. This is Clara Parke’s website. If you don’t know her, you are in for a treat. Her blogs are so informative and she has several books out. There isn’t anything about wool that she doesnt know!

If Knit House had a retreat, lets say at the Marconi Center near Point Reyes, would you be interested in attending? In the past, I have lead a yoga/knitting retreat there. It is not too far, the food is fantastic and a weekend of knitting with friends is hard to beat. Let us know your thoughts.
